Executive Summary

Summary

PM is like advertising; almost all the effort is wasted. The challenge is figuring out how to prevent waste of so much of effort? Process: Review the parts you use and make a list of the parts that failed because of breakdown, sort them with the most frequent parts failures on top of the list. Finally, divide those failures into three categories.
1. Parts failures where there is a safety or environmental exposure.
2. Parts failures where large costs were incurred in parts, labor, scrap or downtime.
3. Most frequent failures not in the above categories.
Look at each category one by one and determine if any task could have eliminated the failure. This approach can be very effective to tighten up a PM program.
